Stealing the inheritance
Matthew 21  33 Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey. 34 When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit. 35 The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another,...

The flat
I did not write anything around Easter this year. I really wanted to but I had nothing to say. I expected a mountain top experience, not for any other particular reason, it had just been the case for many previous Easters, so I just assumed. God always has something to kick me up the bum about and Easter is as good a time as any to do it. This year however there was nothing. Initially I...

Self Discovery
The older you get the less you know. This is not technically correct, you do actually know more. You realise however that there is so much more to know. Relatively speaking you feel like you know less. Anyway sometimes you have a moment, an epiphany if you will, where by the grace of God you actually learn something which does not lead to more questions but actually makes you feel like you know...

Dense Mediums
“TOBY: It’s called the science of listener attention. We did repetition, we did floating opposites and now you end with the one that’s not like the others. Ready?… SACHS: God, Toby… Wouldn’t it be great if there was someone around here with communication skills who could go in there and tell them that?” - The West Wing: Somebody’s Going To Emergency, Somebody’s Going To...

Long Term
I was pulling a mug out of the dishwasher at work, mid-cycle, when my boss came in and we started talking about the given merits of different white good brands. As a sidenote, if you are looking for white goods and are willing to spend, buy Miele it is the fire and forget of the white goods market. What it brought up again and what I have been noticing over the last six months, the last six...

Me.Refactor
Today I was doing some code refactoring at work.  “Refactor” you say, “Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about.  I do it all the time.”  If only that was true. “Code refactoring is the process of changing a computer program’s internal structure without modifying its external functional behavior or existing functionality, in order to improve internal...

Upgrade
I was discussing with my boss today the future of the software product I am currently working on.  The software is now in the mature stage of it’s life cycle (10 years) and is looking a bit outdated.  It really needs to be thrown away and started again with a newer technology.  This will not happen just yet due to customer demand which begs the question what is worth working on? I think...

Purpose
I posted this October 17, 2008 on my previous blog… not much has changed. Galatians 2 6 As for those who seemed to be important-whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not judge by external appearance-those men added nothing to my message. 7 On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been...

Hello, world!
I started a blog at the end of last year for some personal development.  Let’s just say it didn’t go too well.  I have been encouraged to start again, and I will, this time with a less defined goal and medium. So here it goes I guess. (the superiority of this blogging software already has me pleased)

Walking with God
Micah 6  6 With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what...
